THE FOLGER MANSION… built in 1840 in the fashionable Greek Revival style, was designed to impress. Situated on three city lots on upper Warren Street, the house features a spectacular two-story full-facade colonnaded porch, beneath the front gable, which originally held a lunette fan. A tall front door leads to a grand foyer, mahogany staircase, 11' ceilings, impressive double parlors and a side parlor, each with fireplace. Original doors, hardware, windows, mantels, marble hearths, and Greek Revival trim survive. The second floor has two large bedrooms with fireplaces, two more bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The spacious attic contains four rooms and a stair to the roof. (Originally, the house also had a splendid Cupola as shown in an 1841 engraving by Barber and Howe, lower image) The property includes a large yard, attached two bedroom duplex apartment (rented), and a three car garage. The house was built by a member of the Folger family from Nantucket, prominent in the early history of Hudson.
