NANTUCKET STYLE HOUSE… One of the earliest houses in Hudson whose post and beam construction allowed it to be shipped by boat in pieces and reassembled on the fashionable block of lower Warren Street by the first wave of Hudson settlers from Nantucket. Eight fireplaces, including a large basement kitchen fireplace with beehive oven, are located around two New-England-style massive chimneys. The center hall colonial, built in 1790, has a dramatic original staircase, beautiful wide board floors, exposed bricks and beams. Originally a single family residence, it was converted to a two-family. The ground floor can be used as commercial space or residential use. The second floor is a comfortable owner's home with four large rooms, deck and screened porch overlooking a beautiful garden space. |
